Whether Podhajsky actually wrote this book, whether he is for you the hero that saved the Spanish Riding School from the clutches of the Nazis or a Nazi officer who cannily emerged from the war with his reputation intact, really doesn't matter.

This is, quite simply, one of the best books about horses ever written.  Anyone who has trained horses will sympathise with Podhajsky's wonderful account, fall in love with the equine characters who fill these pages and be thrilled by what the man ultimately achieved with patience and understanding.  Well written, utterly charming and inspirational.  A must read.
