Welcome to the world's southernmost specialist equestrian bookshop - Mangaiti Equine.
Based in the historic village of Ōhoka on the south island of New Zealand, we are a small team dedicated to maintaining a repository of equestrian thought - our oldest book was written in around 355BC and we stock the best writing about horses from every school and historical period since.
Our special interest is French classical dressage, specifically Baucher and his school. For this reason you'll find a wide range of books written by Baucher, his students and the riders who have interpreted his method and worked according to his principles in the century since his death. Our publishing department is primarily focused on making good quality English translations available of original French texts.
But really, we love all books that have anything to do with horses in any capacity and we are agnostic when it comes to method or approach. If it works for someone, somewhere, we try to stock it!
