The range of the Marion Coakes book takes in polo, and there are some delightful pictures of the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh on the polo ground. Princess Anne's main equestrian interest is, of course, the challenge of Three Day Eventing. Wereview the progress of Britain's girl riders in a sport where already plans are well in hand to capture another Gold Medal at the next Olympics.
Point-to-pointing, the amateur riders' racing scene, has earned a place as a regular feature of the Marion Coakes annual. There are many new riders and horses entering the sport where competition is now so keen that some folk fly from one meeting to another to get as many rides as possible in one afternoon.
Most horse sports have some connection with the hunting field, and this edition. includes some fascinating stories of Christmas Hunting'. The contributor is Michael CClayton, broadcaster and writer, who has edited and collaborated with Marion Coakes in producing these new annual horse books which have received such an overwhelming response from horse lovers, especially the younger element
This edition includes two firm favour-ites: an account of the latest Prince Philip Cup Mounted Games for Pony Club members and a report on the Pelham Books Championship for the Junior Show Jumper of the year.
The MARION COAKES BOOK OF HORSES IS throughout illustrated with a superb collection of pictures from the wonderfully varied horse sports open to riders and spectators in Britain. This is a completely new and worthy successor to a series which thoroughly deserves ita established popu-larity.
