THE METHOD of horse breaking (or horse education) discussed in this book was rediscovered by the author, tried out for himself, and proved time and time again in practice. As a method, it is sound, straightforward, calm, unsensa-tional and obviously effective. Tony Sandall describes each step in detail and carefully underlines the important repetitions, etc., necessary for the success of this approach. He writes with the assurance of one who knows his subject thoroughly, and one who has learnt from experience how to be ready for all eventualities. In addition, though he does not say so, he has evidently made his own improvements to Professor Lichtwarks original method.

The technique is demonstrated in a series of photographs specially taken for this book, while the appendices contain a number of useful hints on other matters to do with the training and control of horses.
