Unabridged English text of this classic work on dressage, with a foreword by Einar Schmit Jensen (FEI dressage judge 1948-55. Sylvia Stanier, perhaps most famous for training Queen Elizabeth II's horses, worked with Schmit Jensen).
As Schmit Jensen writes, Fillis met Baucher in 1834, although his study of the famous method was mostly carried out under the tutorship of one of Baucher's students, Francois Carron. Whether Fillis qualifies as a Baucherist in the strictest sense has been questioned, most notably by Racinet, and certainly some of FIllis' advice has not aged well. His advice for ladiesis really very funny.
All the same, this book is very practical and useable. The sensible illustrated advice it contains should be interesting and helpful for students of any method.
Condition: as new, except for an old library reference hand written in pen on the first page. Includes immaculate dust cover.
